Eligibility for Delivery at Our Hospital
As a general obstetric and gynecological hospital, we accept patients for delivery when we can safely provide the level of care required throughout pregnancy and childbirth.
For the safety of both mother and baby, patients with certain high-risk conditions may need to receive care at a hospital with more specialized facilities.
We are unable to accept deliveries in the following cases:
High-Risk Pregnancies
- Pregnancy has not been medically recommended or approved by your treating physician because of an underlying medical condition.
- You have diabetes, a connective tissue disease, a genetic disorder, heart disease, or a neurological condition (including a history of brain surgery or epilepsy).
- You have a blood-clotting disorder that requires low-molecular-weight heparin (LMWH) treatment beyond 28 weeks of pregnancy.
- You have chronic hypertension that was present before pregnancy and requires medical care.
- You are expecting twins or other multiples.
- You have a congenital uterine abnormality.
- You have an uncontrolled psychiatric condition, or have received treatment for a psychiatric condition within one year before pregnancy.
- Your BMI is 30 or higher.
- You are a first-time mother over 42 years of age when the pregnancy is confirmed.
- From 34 weeks of pregnancy onward, your place of residence (including where you plan to stay before delivery) is more than one hour from our hospital by car using local roads.
- You are currently receiving treatment for hyperthyroidism, including Graves’ disease.
Previous Pregnancy or Delivery Complications
We are unable to accept deliveries if you have previously experienced any of the following:
- Blood loss of 1,500 mL or more during delivery.
- A blood transfusion during or after delivery.
- Preterm delivery before 32 weeks of pregnancy.
- Severe preeclampsia or severe hypertensive disorders of pregnancy.
- Placental abruption.
- Three previous cesarean sections.
- A new pregnancy occurring less than one year after a cesarean section.
If Any of the Following Applies to You, Please Consult Our Doctor During Your Visit
If any of the following applies to you, please discuss your condition with one of our doctors during an outpatient consultation:
- You have a gynecological condition.
- You have a thyroid disorder.
- You have asthma.
- You have any other medical condition not included in the high-risk conditions listed above. Please bring a medical report or letter from your treating physician, if available.
Eligibility for delivery at our hospital will be determined by a physician after reviewing your medical history and current condition.
